Meet the designer
Sasha inglehart
A lifelong fashion editor turned designer, Sasha Inglehart has spent decades behind the scenes of the fashion world—styling celebrity covers and editorial spreads for the likes of Harper’s Bazaar and Glamour. But her love for menswear, especially the timeless oxford shirt, runs even deeper. Inspired by childhood memories of her father’s well-worn cotton shirts, Sasha began rescuing old button-downs and reimagining them by hand—giving each a second life. What started as a creative spark soon became A Shirt Story.
The Brand
A shirt story
A Shirt Story is a love letter to upcycling, nostalgia, and slow fashion. Each piece begins with a preloved men’s dress shirt—rescued from thrift stores, dollar racks, and eBay piles—then carefully deconstructed, reworked, and revived by Sasha herself in New York City. From frayed collars to Swarovski crystal buttons, every detail is considered. No two shirts are alike, and every piece tells a story.
At its core, A Shirt Story is about changing fashion’s narrative. With overproduction and waste deeply ingrained in the industry, Sasha’s mission is to integrate surplus inventory back into the fashion ecosystem through creative reuse. Her pieces are proof that sustainability doesn’t have to sacrifice style—and that something old can feel entirely new again.

sarah says...
"Sasha has been telling fashion stories for decades. As an iconic Fashion Editor at Glamour and Harpers Bazaar, she would pick the best styles of the season from the Runways in Milan. So it makes sense that she is now telling us a new, modern story- how to wear a men’s up-cycled button down, but make it fashion. Style is so personal, and this brand is 100% Sasha’s personal style. It is the Fashion Editor uniform we have all revered. I love it when a designer takes one product and makes it absolutely perfect. That’s what Sasha has done here with A Shirt Story."
