Sarah: How do you personally use fashion as a tool? For self-expression, confidence, or transformation, etc?

Alessandra: For me, fashion has always been a personal language‚ a way to express how I feel, who I aspire to be, or how I want to be seen. On some days, an oversized blazer helps me channel confidence and structure. On others, a flowing dress in a bold print lets me feel free and expressive. It‚ does not just about getting dressed‚ It’s about setting the tone before words are even exchanged. Fashion can be a powerful tool for storytelling, identity, and first impressions.

Sarah: I TOTALLY AGREE! So well said. On that note, have you ever crossed a room to speak to someone because of their look? Please describe.

Alessandra: Yes, multiple times. I find it incredibly inspiring to see someone so thoughtfully or authentically dressed‚ it often feels like a glimpse into who they are. Style can be a way to find your tribe; you are naturally drawn to those whose look resonates with you. There‚ is comfort in recognizing something familiar or aspirational in someone else’s self expression.

Sarah: I met one of my very best friends this way 15 years ago at a children’s birthday party in Montauk- we just knew! Why do you believe fashion is such a powerful form of art or storytelling?

Alessandra: Because it has the power to transform you‚ and sometimes, to make you unrecognizable. Fashion allows you to shift identities, embody a feeling, or step into a version of yourself that words cannot fully express. Personally, I love to use clothing both to stand out and to blend in. That duality is something I carry into my work: creating pieces that allow people to express different layers of themselves. Whether it is through subtle textures, bold silhouettes, or quiet details, I want my designs to offer that same sense of transformation and choice.

Sarah: Thank you Alessandra! Such a pleasure to speak to a fashion-fluent, kindred spirit!
